Time Off

Employees begin accruing paid time off hours the day they start work and, in most cases, can access this benefit immediately. Accruals vary by employee classification, FTE (full-time equivalent) and length of service. Holiday pay is also provided to employees who qualify.

Please Note: Effective January 2019, unclassified employees (faculty, research, unclassified administrative) will transition to a Paid Time Off system, replacing the current system of vacation and sick leave accruals. Under the new system, unclassified employees will earn up to 208 hours of PTO per year, which can be used for any absence, planned or unplanned. In addition, unclassified employees will accrue up to 64 hours per year into an Extended Illness Bank, which can be used for leave due to illness and other qualifying reasons. Paid holidays will remain the same.
