Research Impact
Research impact refers to the demonstrable effects your research has had on scientific understanding and human health. There are many indicators of impact, including citation counts, health policy documents, and news media attention. Funders, publishers, universities, and other stakeholders are recognizing data as a distinct and potentially impactful research product.
Standards and technologies have and are being developed to facilitate data citation, linkages between data and articles, and impact measurements. You can expand the impact of your data through good data management and sharing. This could include depositing your data in a public data repository that provides citable identifiers, such as DOIs. The OHSU Library can help you identify the best repositories for your data, obtain and use citable identifiers, and track the impact of your work.
