Research Communication and Impact

There are many ways to share, promote, and discuss your research and professional interests, especially online. It can be tough to know where to start and identify the best strategies for your communication goals.

We're here to help! The OHSU Library, in collaboration with the Career &Professional Development Center and the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs, is hosting the OHSU Impact Challenge, a series of workshops designed to assist students, early career researchers, and faculty with navigating and implementing tactics and tools for sharing their work and building a professional network.

Topics include writing an effective bio, using social media, high impact publishing, LinkedIn, data sharing, professionalism, and more. All workshops are free and open to all OHSU community members.

All workshops are from 2:00 to 3:30 PM and are free and open to all OHSU community members.

EndNote Basics

EndNote or other library-led workshops are provided on a by-request basis.

If you are interested in having a librarian teach information management using EndNote or teach another topic, please Contact Us at the OHSU Library and indicate your name, email and the names of at least 3 other people you know who are interested in this training. The OHSU Library requires at least 4 people to sign up for a class. A librarian will contact you to set up a time and place convenient for you and your group.

The information management/EndNote class can be set up to be delivered within 60 minutes if your group just wants a brief overview, or within 90 minutes if your group wants some opportunity to work hands-on.

If your group has chosen to do a more hands-on focused session, participants will need to bring their laptops with EndNote already installed. See our instructions for How to Get EndNote

The information management/EndNote workshop covers the basics of information management using EndNote, a citation software used to manage citations in personal libraries and to create bibliographies based on a number of available journal or writing styles.

Learning Outcomes

  • Reflect on broader aspects of information management
  • Identify

Where to go for search strategy/information management help

Where to go for technical help with EndNote

  • Build and start organizing a basic EndNote Library
  • Use the EndNote functions in Microsoft Word to create a bibliography

Note: If you are an OHSU distance student and would like to have this instruction, please let us know via the Contact Us page. If we can get at least four (4) people to agree to a date and time for a remote version of this class we can hold one of these sessions online.
