Irene Barhyte, C.P.A., C.T.P.
Senior Associate Dean for Finance and Administration
Irene has responsibility and oversight both for the finances of the School of Medicine and the OHSU Practice Plan. She has a deep knowledge of OHSU's organization and financial systems. She was involved in planning for and implementing the integration of OHSU Medical Group into the School of Medicine as the Faculty Practice Plan (renamed the OHSU Practice Plan in January 2017), and has been involved in special projects related to research administration. Daniel Marks, M.D., Ph.D.
Senior Associate Dean for Research
Dr. Marks is professor of pediatrics, OHSU School of Medicine, Credit Unions for Kids Professor of Pediatric Research, OHSU Doernbecher Children's Hospital, and pediatric endocrinologist, Papé Family Pediatric Research Institute. He holds a number of leadership positions, including director of the pediatric fellowship program, Department of Pediatrics, and director of the patient resiliency program, Brenden-Colson Center for Pancreatic Care. He serves as a consultant senior scientific advisor to the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. He became senior associate dean for research in the School of Medicine Office of the Dean in July 2018. Senior Associate Dean for Clinical Practice
CEO, OHSU Practice Plan
Anthony is the chief executive officer of the OHSU Practice Plan. In this role, he is responsible for the overall supervision, direction and control of the business activities and affairs of the OPP, including the senior staff responsible for billing/collections, managed care contracting, compliance and ambulatory services. Working with the dean and chief clinical officer, the OPP CEO is instrumental in developing and implementing new programs and support structures with external providers and health systems that have entered into partnerships and collaborations with OHSU, such as Tuality Healthcare. Anthony is currently chair of the Group on Faculty Practice of the Association of American Medical Colleges and a member of several professional organizations, including the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Medical Group Management Association and Healthcare Financial Management Association. George Mejicano, M.D., M.S.
Senior Associate Dean for Education
Dr. Mejicano has a master's degree in adult education from the University of Wisconsin. His educational interests include competency-based medical education and outcomes assessment. He has done research on how education can lead to improvements in medical practice and was awarded the Felch Award for Research in Continuing Medical Education by the Alliance for CME in 2002. He currently serves as the Senior Associate Dean for Education at OHSU where he oversees the entire educational portfolio – UME, GME, CME/CPD, graduate studies and faculty development – for the School of Medicine. He is the leader of OHSU's team working on the AAMC's pilot program studying the 13 Core Entrustable Professional Activities for Entering Residency and is the PI of a five-year, $1 million grant from the AMA's Accelerating Change in Medical Education strategic initiative. Dr. Zaman is a professor
of medicine, OHSU School of Medicine, and professor of public
health and preventive medicine, OHSU-PSU School of Public Health, and became the senior associate dean for
clinical and faculty affairs in the School of Medicine Office of the Dean on
March 1, 2018.
Zaman is serving as Dean Anderson's "right hand," working with senior leadership and others to support all missions, including assisting with faculty
recruitment, development, engagement and wellness, and creation and growth of
