Class Profiles

The following table represents information regarding the most recent accepted classes. In general, students accepted into the OHSU PA Program come from a wide variety of backgrounds.

The program enjoys a strong applicant pool from across the country. Although the OHSU PA Program doesn't designate a set number of seats for residents, about half the class is from Oregon and other Northwest states.  Each year students are accepted from all over, including Oregon, Washington, Idaho, California, Alaska, Arizona, Colorado, Guam, Hawaii, Illinois, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Maine, Minnesota, Montana, Nevada, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, etc.

Entering students bring experience in health care from many types of backgrounds to include experience as emergency medical technicians (EMT), paramedics, certified nursing assistants (CNA), medical assistants, phlebotomists, scribes, and naturopaths to name a few.

Although the program doesn’t require a specific major for entering students, we tend to see most bachelor’s degrees from areas such as biology, psychology, and general science. We have seen a fair number of bachelor’s degrees in English, History, Art History, etc., and these entering students will usually have obtained their science credits as a post-baccalaureate student.
