Charles A. Preuss Distinguished Alumnus/a Award

preussNamed in honor of Charles A. Preuss, M.D. '29, this award was established in 1983. This award honors any School of Medicine alumnus/a who received a degree or is a graduate of a training program who in professional achievement and service to their communities reflects the highest ideals of the School of Medicine. Any community member may make a nomination.  Nominations are reviewed and selected by the Awards Committee and endorsed by the Alumni Association Council. Nominations remain active for three years.

Richard T. Jones Distinguished Alumnus/a Scientist Award

Richard JonesEstablished in 2001 and renamed to honor Dr. Jones in 2006, this award honors an alumnus/a from the School of Medicine's Masters or Doctorate of Philosophy Degree programs who displays continued research excellence, service to the scientific community and contributions to basic science education. Community members are encouraged to submit nominations, which are reviewed and selected by the Awards Committee and endorsed by the Alumni Association Council.

Esther Pohl Lovejoy Leadership Award

Esther LovejoyEstablished in 2008, this award honors Esther Pohl Lovejoy, M.D., an 1894 graduate of the School of Medicine who helped establish several international medical organizations. This award honors an alumnus/a who received a degree or is a graduate of a training program from the OHSU School of Medicine and has demonstrated exceptional leadership and service to the medical profession on a national or international level.  Any community member may make a nomination.  Nominations are reviewed and selected by the Awards Committee and endorsed by the Alumni Association Council.

Early Career Achievement Award

AwardsEstablished in 2013, the Early Career Achievement Award recognizes any alumna/us from the OHSU School of Medicine who has made significant career contributions to improving health and social welfare in a community setting or in the areas of scientific research or academia within 15 years of  graduation. Nominations are approved by the Awards Committee and endorsed by the Alumni Association Council.

Volunteer Faculty Recognition Award

AwardsThis award recognizes those who serve as volunteer (clinical) faculty at the School of Medicine. Each School of Medicine department and/or division may submit one nomination per year and nominees need not be alumni of OHSU. Nominations are approved by the Awards Committee and endorsed by the Alumni Association Council.

Resident Paper Of the Year Award

awardThe Resident Paper Competition recognizes and fosters medical research and clinical presentations among the School of Medicine's residents through a competitive review and presentation of research. A $500 prize is awarded to the individual whose paper is selected for presentation at the Sommer Memorial Lectures and during OHSU Research Week.

Postdoctoral Paper of the Year Award (accepting nominations summer 2019)

awardThe Postdoctoral Paper competition recognizes and fosters the importance and quality of laboratory research through a competitive review and presentation of research by postdoctoral fellows in the School of Medicine. A multidisciplinary panel within the School of Medicine will conduct an evaluation of the papers. A $500 prize will be awarded to the individual whose paper is selected for presentation during OHSU Postdoctoral Appreciation Week.

Dean's Award

awardThis award is given by the Dean of the School of Medicine in recognition of an individual who has shown commitment to the School of Medicine through their volunteerism, teaching, and/or philanthropic support.
