Behavioral neuroscience focuses on the interface of behavior and biological mechanisms. It is one of the fastest-growing disciplines in the biomedical sciences because it is fundamental to improving our understanding and treatment of brain illnesses such as addiction, schizophrenia, Alzheimer's disease, mood disorders, and PTSD. Welcome New Faculty Member!
We are pleased to welcome new faculty member Atheir Abbas, MD, PhD., to the Department of Behavioral Neuroscience. Dr. Abbas's will be joining us from Columbia University Medical Center. His research interest include; the role of interneurons in regulating working memory circuitry and associated task-related information, and using advanced computational techniques to analyze high density neural recordings to better understand how populations of neurons represent behaviorally-relevant information.
