Galbraith Cell Image

Cell publishes a Picture Show on their website approximately every other month. Last month's was in celebration of Mike Davidson (Florida State University, National High Magnetic Field Laboratory), who passed away last year from lung cancer. Mike was one of the imaging community's most talented, devoted and celebrated microscopists, known as an international reference for fluorescent probes and a key collaborator in the development of many advanced microscopy techniques.

The Galbraiths' image was one of the twelve in this Picture Show. The image is a color coded reconstruction of the actin cytoskeleton created using three-dimensional super resolution light microscopy (iPALM) to localize millions of molecules in x, y, and z with the resolution of electron tomography.
