The OHSU Center for Spatial Systems Biomedicine and the Program in Chemical Biology has an open postdoctoral researcher position in the Beatty Lab. The fellow will conduct research at the interface of chemistry and biology, working collaboratively to develop and optimize novel fluorescent tags for imaging cellular proteins. Projects in the Beatty Lab utilize skills in the areas of synthetic chemistry, molecular imaging, cell biology, protein engineering, bioconjugation reactions (e.g., “click chemistry”), biochemistry, and molecular biology. The Research Assistant 2 - Cryo-Electron Microscopy (PNCC) will work to provide support to the team by conducting specimen preparation and experiments using appropriate techniques, and providing research support and training to visiting Scientists at Pacific Northwest CryoEM Center (PNCC), a joint collaboration between Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU) and the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL). The PNCC is a national facility serving and training researchers in the entire US. The Center, scheduled to open in October 2018 will include two 300 KeV cryo Transmission EMs (TEM), two 200 KeV cryoTEMs and a cryo FIB Scanning EM. The cryoTEMs will be outfitted with Falcon III, post GIF K3 and volta phase plate technologies. This center will also have all standard equipment for sample preparation and purification. This role is ideal for those with limited laboratory experience who are looking to develop and refine their skills in this exciting area of research.
