Sleep Medicine

OHSU/VA Skybridge and Tram

The Sleep Medicine Fellowship training program  is a highly multidisciplinary American Council of Graduate Medical Education accredited one-year sleep fellowship program with faculty from neurology, otorhinolaryngology, psychiatry, child and adult pulmonary medicine, general pediatrics, and dental sleep medicine.

The fellowship accepts two fellows per academic year from all eligible disciplines with recent graduates coming from pulmonary, critical care, neurology, pediatrics and psychiatry.

Fellows participate in the very active clinical programs and sleep laboratories of both the Oregon Health & Science University and the Portland Veterans Administration Medical Center. A rigorous schedule of fellow-oriented didactic sessions, sleep conferences, journal clubs and polysomnography reviews are held throughout the academic year. Participation in research is expected with fellows choosing either a project of their own design or by participating in ongoing faculty research.

There are three particular advantages you should consider when thinking about doing a sleep fellowship at OHSU:

  1. You will work at two clinical sleep programs with distinct patient populations. These clinical sites are separated only by a skybridge over an evergreen valley. Each of these programs is at a major academic health center.
  2. Access to a relatively large pediatric sleep patient population with three pediatric sleep clinicians.
  3. It is hard to beat Portland, OR as a place to train given the combination of restaurants, entertainment, access to outdoor activities and nature all set within a moderately sized city which is relatively easy to get around in.
