 Joshua Walker, MD, PhD was recently selected into the OHSU Chapter of the Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) Honor Medical Society. Dr. Walker was selected as a Resident inductee. Dr. Walker is a MSTP graduate of OHSU, Holman Research Pathway resident, and a recipient of multiple competitive extramural grants, including the ASCO YIA. RSNA, and ASTRO Resident Seed award. Dr; Walker will join the faculty as a physician-scientist assistant professor in the depts Radiation Medicine and Cell, Developmental, and Cancer Biology. Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, a professional medical organization, recognizes and advocates for excellence in scholarship and the highest ideals in the profession of medicine. Alpha Omega Alpha is to medicine what Phi Beta Kappa is to letters and the humanities and Sigma Xi is to science. Distinguished professionals may also be elected to honorary membership. More than fifty Nobel Prize winners in Physiology or Medicine, and in Chemistry, have been AΩA members. More than thirty of those were elected to AΩA prior to winning the Nobel Prize. Nearly 75% of deans of U.S. medical schools are members of AΩA. Each year, AΩA grants more than $575,000 to medical students and faculty for awards, projects, and prizes that recognize outstanding commitment and dedication to caring for others and providing high quality health care.
