Wendy McGinnisa has been awarded an OSLER TL1 fellowship

Wendy McGinnis (SOM Class of 2017) and a member of the Radiation Medicine Student Interest Group,has been awarded an OSLER TL1 fellowship (OSLER Tl1 application).  

Wendy matriculated at OHSU after completing her undergraduate training at Duke University. Her research mentors are Drs. Michael Gough (Providence Bio), Jacob Raber (Academic program), and Charles Thomas, Jr.  

Her research project has 2 specific aims: 

  • First to test the hypothesis that suppression of the T cell response using anti CTLA4 pretreatment will enhance the detrimental effects of radiation therapy on cognition.

  • Second to test the hypothesis that suppression of the T cell response using anti CTLA4 pretreatment will enhance the detrimental effects of radiation therapy on inflammation and hippocampal neurogenesis and Arc expression.
