Introducing the 2017-2018 Alumni Council

October 2, 2017
The OHSU School of Medicine Alumni Association (SMAA) Council is a group of active alumni and faculty committed to the betterment of the school and its community.
Twenty-eight members strong, the 2017-2018 council is gearing up for another academic year full of events to support the school and its students, including the Cultural Events and Student Wellness Program, Holiday Reception and Medical Specialty Speed Dating.
The SMAA Council welcomes five new members to the ranks: Marcus Chiodo, M.D. '11, Danielle Erb, M.D. '86, Karen Gunson, M.D. '81, Barbara Wagner, M.D. R '73 and Robert "Bass" Wagner, M.D. R '73.
Dr. Chiodo has returned to Oregon having completed his residency at Wayne State University and Sinai-Grace Hospital. Dr. Chiodo is currently practicing emergency medicine at Adventist Health in Portland.
Dr. Erb completed residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at the University of Colorado in Denver. She is board-certified in brain injury medicine and, through her own practice, focuses on the care and treatment of patients with an acquired brain injury.
Dr. Gunson is a forensic pathologist and served as state medical examiner since her initial appointment in 1999. Among many achievements, Dr. Gunson has been widely recognized for her commitment to Oregon's organ donation program.
Dr. Elizabeth Wagner earned her M.D. from Temple University and attended OHSU for her residency in emergency medicine. Dr. Wagner is also a passionate artist, working primarily in watercolor, and her work has been exhibited extensively throughout the Pacific Northwest.
Dr. Robert "Bass" Wagner also earned his M.D. from Temple University and completed surgical residency at OHSU in 1973. His practice has focused on family medicine, and for many years he maintained a private clinic in West Linn. He is the proud of husband of fellow new board member, Dr. Elizabeth Wagner.
The SMAA is actively recruiting two new student representatives to the council: a first-year medical student and a postdoctoral student. If interested in the openings, please contact the OHSU Alumni Relations team.
