OHSU students and residents participate in the ACP Oregon Chapter meeting
November 30, 2015
On Nov. 12, over 30 OHSU residents and 15 M.D. students joined Internal Medicine residents and physicians from across the state to present their research at the 2015 American College of Physicians (ACP) Oregon Chapter meeting. The goal of the poster sessions was to help students and residents apply updated knowledge of internal medicine to clinical practice; gain insight about updates in outpatient medicine and hospital medicine; and understand recent advances in internal medicine.
A record number of 15 OHSU M.D. students presented 16 posters; nearly 70 residents presented 76 posters. OHSU faculty mentors in these projects included Alan Hunter, M.D., associate professor of medicine; Andre Mansoor, M.D., assistant professor of medicine; and Michael Hendricks, M.D., instructor of medicine, among others. "The fact that faculty and students are working together to tackle diagnostic dilemmas by thinking independently and challenging past assumptions is very encouraging to see as an educator," said Avital O'Glasser, M.D., FACP, assistant professor of medicine and mentor in the OHSU Internal Medicine Interest Group.
OHSU medical student winners include:
