Dr. Andrew Ahmann named ADA Outstanding Physician Clinician in Diabetes
American Diabetes Association awards recognize eight leaders nationwide

The American Diabetes Association has named Andrew Ahmann,
M.D., professor of medicine, OHSU School of Medicine, the 2018 Outstanding
Physician Clinician in Diabetes. Dr.
Ahmann, who is also director of the Harold Schnitzer
Diabetes Health Center, is being recognized for leadership and work to
advance diabetes research, prevention, care and treatment.
The ADA's National Scientific and Health Care Achievement awards will be presented during the 78th Scientific Sessions, June 22-26 in Orlando. Individually and collectively, the awardees display exemplary leadership, mentorship and many achievements to advance the field of diabetes care and improve health outcomes for people with diabetes.
"All of the recipients of our National Scientific and Health Care Achievement awards have made incredible contributions in their respective fields to increase the vast library of knowledge that has contributed to the many scientific and technological advances that have improved the lives of millions of people living with diabetes," said William T. Cefalu, M.D., chief scientific, medical and mission officer of the ADA, in a statement. "It is an honor for the ADA to recognize these individuals for their extraordinary work."
