Bruce Boston, M.D. '88 R '95, was recently appointed the inaugural holder of the Miracles Aisles Professorship in Pediatric Diabetes. School of Medicine Interim Dean John Hunter and Pediatrics Chair Dana Braner* presided over an investiture in October attended by Dr. Boston, members of the Miracle Aisles board, faculty members and leaders from the OHSU and Doernbecher Children's Hospital Foundations.

Dr. Boston, a native Oregonian, received his medical degree and completed his pediatric residency and pediatric endocrinology fellowship at OHSU. He is division head of pediatric endocrinology within the Department of Pediatrics. He specializes in the care of infants, children and adolescents with endocrine problems and takes a developmental and family centered approach to the care of diabetes in children and adolescents.

Outside OHSU, Dr. Boston serves as the medical director for Gales Creek Camp for Children with Diabetes. He is also a member of the Pediatric Endocrine Society for Pediatric Research, the Endocrine Society and the American Diabetes Association.

This endowed faculty position was made possible by Miracle Aisles – a cause-related marketing grocery campaign that supported Doernbecher for 28 years. Each fall, customers looked for Miracle Aisles shelf tags in grocery stores across Oregon and southwest Washington and purchased products from many companies. Since its inception, Miracles Aisles has raised more than $3 million for Doernbecher.
