Medical students vie for coveted College Cup trophy
August 29, 2017
There's only one explanation when waves of laughter and a
massive Tug of War competition break out on the lawn in front of Mackenzie Hall:
it's the annual M.D. student College Cup. The fifth annual event – a friendly
competition of medical-themed games and activities – was held Wednesday, Aug.
23. Medical students in the classes of 2020 and 2021 competed for the coveted
College Cup trophy.
The competition is part of the Colleges program and is designed to foster a sense of community among medical students and faculty, building bonds and encouraging participants to support one another, despite their differences –necessary attributes to learn, grow and develop compassion as physicians.
Students rotated among the following activities: Needle Biopsy, Map Quiz, Pin the Stethoscope on Dr. Sullivan (using leftover solar eclipse-viewing glasses as a blindfold), Medical Pictionary, Operation, and Fellowship Toss. Faculty members competed in a water balloon toss, and the afternoon ended with a Tug of War competition.
Last year's Cup winners, Hospital-Based Therapeutics and Diagnostics came in a close second, but the afternoon belonged to the Surgical Specialties College.
A special thank-you to the School of Medicine Alliance for their sponsorship of this fifth annual College Cup.
