Dr. Roger Garvin to lead family medicine EPAs task force
December 7, 2015
Roger Garvin, M.D., assistant professor of family medicine and family medicine residency director, OHSU School of Medicine, has been asked to chair the national task force on Entrustable Professional Activities (EPAs) for the Association of Family Medicine Residency Directors. As part of the strategic planning process of Family Medicine for America's Health, EPAs were developed for the discipline of family medicine relating to residency completion. In the future, EPAs will define the expectations for the education of family physicians. The objectives of the task force are to develop and implement communication strategies to increase awareness of the EPAs by residency program leadership; facilitate understanding of EPAs and their connection to and distinction from milestones and ACGME requirements; identify opportunities to advance program level adoption and assessment of EPA; and to identify and/or create innovative assessment tools for EPAs that incorporate milestones.
