Dr. Sharon Anderson receives National Kidney Foundation’s highest honor

Sharon Anderson, M.D., professor and chair of medicine, OHSU
School of Medicine, will receive the National Kidney Foundation's highest honor
during the 2016 Spring Clinical Meetings in Boston this April.
The David Hume Award is reserved for a distinguished scientist-clinician in the field of kidney and urologic diseases who exemplifies the high ideals of scholarship and humanism in an outstanding manner.
"I am deeply honored to be the second woman to receive the David Hume Award," said Dr. Anderson. "I'm very much looking forward to the Spring Clinical Meetings, which always offer a terrific program of content highly relevant to our practice."
Dr. Anderson has been chair of the OHSU School of Medicine's largest department since March 2015, and a member of the OHSU faculty since 1991. She is a nationally-recognized and innovative clinician, educator, researcher and leader. Previously, she was chief of medical service at the Portland Veterans Affairs Medical Center (now VA Portland Health Care System) and associate dean for faculty development in the School of Medicine.
