February 16, 2016
The American Board of Medical Specialties announced today that the Oregon Pediatric Improvement Program (OPIP) will join the Multi-Specialty Portfolio Approval Program™ (Portfolio Program). This means OPIP and OHSU physicians who are board certified by one of 20 of the 24 ABMS Member Boards participating in the Portfolio Program and are engaged in eligible OPIP-led activities can now obtain maintenance of certification (MOC) credit.
Based out of the OHSU School of Medicine's Department of Pediatrics, OPIP has to date led quality improvement initiatives that have positively impacted more than 151,000 children across Oregon. “We are proud to participate in this ABMS program as it confirms our commitment to the importance of quality improvement in ways that serve both physicians and patients,” said George Mejicano, M.D., senior associate dean for education, OHSU School of Medicine.
