Dr. Eric Orwoll awarded for outstanding clinical investigation

Dr. Eric OrwollEric Orwoll, M.D., professor of medicine, OHSU School of Medicine, is the 2016 recipient of the Frederic C. Bartter Award, given on behalf of the American Society for Bone and Mineral Research. ASBMR recognized Dr. Orwoll for outstanding clinical investigation in disorders of bone and mineral metabolism. The award was presented at the ASBMR 2016 Annual Meeting in Atlanta, Ga., earlier this month.

Dr. Orwoll is active in basic, clinical and epidemiological research in bone biology, with a major focus in age related musculoskeletal change, including the epidemiology, etiology and therapy of osteoporosis and sarcopenia in men. His basic/translational interests include the genetics and proteomics of aging. He has been the principal investigator for many projects supported by the NIH, VA and foundations, and is the author of more than 400 peer reviewed publications, reviews, books, and book chapters.
