Ahmed M.T. Raslan, M.D. F '05 R '12, associate professor of neurological surgery, OHSU School of Medicine, was recently appointed to the Medicare Evidence Development and Coverage Advisory Committee. MEDCAC reports to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, and is charged with examining "data and information on the benefits, harms, and appropriateness of medical items and services that are covered under Medicare or that may be eligible for coverage under Medicare."

Dr. Raslan, who is also director of neurological surgery clinical operations and medical director of OHSU neuroscience quality, is a voting member of MEDCAC. Appointments to this influential national committee are highly competitive. The American Association of Neurological Surgeons and Congress of Neurological Surgeons nominated Dr. Raslan earlier this year. Marc Gosselin, M.D., professor of diagnostic radiology, OHSU School of Medicine, is a non-voting representative on MEDCAC.
