OHSU's Women in Academic Medicine committee invites award nominations

Honoring those who support the success of women in academic medicine

July 28, 2015

For 22 years, the OHSU Women in Academic Medicine committee has been working to address issues of concern that affect women faculty including career advancement, career satisfaction, participation by women on decision-making bodies at OHSU, pay equity, discrimination and parenting and schedule flexibility issues. The group got its start in 1993 and is a standing committee of the OHSU School of Medicine.

All perspectives dedicated to the advancement of women medical and graduate students and residents are sought. Recommendations from the committee are designed to benefit all members of the School of Medicine and the entire OHSU community.

The committee is now inviting nominations for the 2015 WAM Awards, which recognize individuals who support the success of women in academic medicine. Awardees will be announced at the annual WAM Leadership Conference, October 13.

Awards are available in five categories: mentoring, discovery, clinical service, research support, and resiliency. The awards are open to all exemplary individuals employed at OHSU.

Nominations should consist of a letter of nomination, at least one additional letter of support from colleagues, and the nominee's curriculum vitae. The nomination letter should specifically address how the individual's accomplishments relate to the purpose of the award. Please send nominations by email to WAM by Friday, Sept. 11, 2015.

Additional information and descriptions of the individual awards as well as an overview of previous years’ recipients are available on the WAM website.
