Xiangshu Xiao, Ph.D., associate professor of physiology and pharmacology, OHSU School of Medicine, has been appointed a member of the NIH Drug Discovery and Molecular Pharmacology Study Section, effective July 1 and ending June 30, 2022.

Members are selected on the basis of their demonstrated competence and achievement in their scientific discipline as evidenced by the quality of research accomplishments, publications in scientific journals, and other significant scientific activities, achievements and honors.

Research in the Xiao Lab focuses on the emerging interface of chemistry and biology by using chemical tools to dissect the signaling pathways implicated in cancer development and maintenance. A particular focus in the lab is to develop chemical tools and potential cancer therapeutics for targets that are not well understood.

Dr. Xiao earned his Ph.D. from Purdue University in 2005 and completed postdoctoral training at University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in 2007.
