Nurse-Midwifery Grand Rounds

Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) School of Nursing's nurse midwifery program is pleased to announce OHSU Nurse Midwifery Grand Rounds, a program from the number one ranked nurse midwifery program in the nation. The Grand Rounds features the Northwest's leading midwifery faculty, clinicians, and experts in women's health care, as they discuss the latest research and evidence-based trends in clinical practice.

OHSU Nurse Midwifery Grand Rounds meets once a month on Tuesday from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. and is open to all who are interested. Sessions are held in the OHSU School of Nursing Auditorium, room 144. Midwifery students and faculty, OB residents, and labor and delivery staff are especially encouraged to attend.

Caring for Patients with Female Genital Mutilation

Susan Jacoby, C.N.M., joins us from the World Health Organization(WHO) for a lecture on female genital mutilation (FGM). She will describe the four WHO types of FGM, and discuss the short and long-term complications for FGM. She will discuss evaluation, impact and management of infibulation in pregnancy and birth , as well as examine the practice of reinfibulation through the lens of beneficence,non-malificence, and cultural bias.
