American Academy of Nursing Fellowships awarded

Joanne Noone, Ph.D., R.N., C.N.E., A.N.E.F., is the lone Oregon fellow this year. She was one of 195 highly distinguished nurse leaders as its 2018 class of Academy fellows. In addition, Noone also received the OHSU Diversity and Inclusion Champion Individual Award for her work as the project manager for HealthE Steps, a program that seeks to improve health equity in communities and provides scholarships to students from underrepresented minority populations. The program increased the percentage of under-represented minorities on the Ashland campus by more than 32 percent. Noone serves as a board member on the Jackson County Public Health Advisory Board, as well as the Oregon Office of Equity and Inclusion Community Advisory Council. She is a founding member of the Southern Oregon Health Equity Coalition.

Wafaa Bin Ali, current Ph.D. student featured

Wafaa Bin Ali, current Ph.D. student was recently interviewed and featured on the OHSU's Research News blog.

"So far, no study has identified factors within the ICU work environment that are perceived to impact CRRT practice. The purpose of my study is to identify and describe factors in the ICU work environment that are perceived to influence the performance of ICU nurses and impact CRRT practice, quality of care and patient safety. I am also developing a CRRT-specific instrument to measure the perceived impact of ICU work environment on CRRT practice."

$2.5 million grant awarded for cancer research: Kerri Winters-Stone

 Dr. Kerri Winters-Stone's was awarded a $2.5 million grant from the National Cancer Institute for a 5-year study to evaluate the benefits of a partnered exercise program.
