Innovations Dean's Small Grants Program

Supporting faculty's innovative pilot studies that hold promise for advancing nursing science, education, and practice is a high priority of the School. Applications for funds are reviewed by external peer reviewers with matching expertise who set high standards for rigor and quality. Proposals are evaluated for significance, innovation, sustainability, and synergism with School and University priorities. The qualifications of faculty investigators and the feasibility of studies are considered carefully to maximize the probability of long-term success. Interprofessional collaboration is highly encouraged as it reflects both the University's and the nation's value of team science.

Hartford Award for Research and Practice (HARP)

The Hartford Center of Gerontological Excellence funds faculty's pilot studies that aim to improve the health and care of older adults. It also makes small grants to select Ph.D. candidates in the final stages of their dissertation. An annual call for proposals solicits applications, which are sent to external peer reviewers to evaluate innovation, relevance, synergism, merit, and feasibility. At least one HARP is awarded annually to a faculty member of the School of Nursing and a second is designated as an "Interprofessional HARP," for which the PI is within the University but outside of the School and a School of Nursing faculty member is a Co-Investigator.

Oregon Clinical &Translational Research Institute (OCTRI)

OCTRI is the University's funded CTSA that provides direct support for novel translational research through pilot project funding, support for strategic initiatives, career development awards, and scholarships for students.

BIRCWH (Building Research Careers in Women's Health)

The BIRCWH funding mechanism is a highly competitive mechanism that awards NIH funds to support early career investigators in women's health from across the University.
