A Message from OHSU President, Joe Robertson, M.D., M.B.A.

OHSU’s fourth mission – along with healing, teaching and discovery – is community outreach and public service. Community partnerships and collaborations make OHSU a stronger institution and help leverage resources for the benefit of Oregonians.
As part of this commitment to public service, the university promotes science education through information, opportunities and resources for communities and students throughout the region. The Office of Science Education Opportunities (SEO) provides a single point of entry for kindergarten through grade 16 teachers and students and the public to access relevant experiences and information in the health sciences. SEO collaborates with OHSU departments and community partners to deliver quality education programming and connect students and teachers with health science professionals in the OHSU workplace and in the classroom.
A strong pipeline of young, well-prepared students flowing in to biomedical and science education is absolutely vital to meet the critical need for workforce development in health and science fields. OHSU encourages faculty, staff and students to serve, sharing their expertise, mentoring the next generation of health science professionals.
