Pediatric Psychology Program
The Pediatric Psychology Program at OHSU is dedicated to improving the psychological, behavioral, emotional, and social well-being of children, adolescents and young adults with chronic health conditions, medical complexity, and special health care needs.
The Pediatric Psychology program has a focus on recognizing the strengths ofindividuals and families, and helps families build on those strengths to foster improved adjustment and adaptive coping with chronic health conditions, medical complexity, and special health care needs.
We understand the importance of the relationships between social support, health status, and health behaviors. We are committed to adopting a holistic perspective to care that considers and appreciates the interplay between psychosocial, medical, and developmental issues.
Important to our approach is regular consultation and coordination with medical or other health care providers when appropriate, and we defer to other disciplines on issues that are not considered psychological. In addition, we provide the highest quality services by using treatments that are supported by scientific research, represent the most current practice standards, while considering individual and cultural differences.
