Primary care physicians provide the majority of medical care for child psychiatry patients and prescribe as much as 70 percent of their psychotropic medications. OHSU child psychiatry specialists can enhance the ability of primary care providers to identify and treat mental health issues, including dealing with the challenges of medication management.

The Child Psychiatry ECHO Clinic helps primary care physicians throughout the state diagnose and treat child patients with ADHD, anxiety, depression, learning disabilities, trauma, PTSD and other issues. The weekly one-hour videoconferencing sessions include a didactic portion and participating physicians will also have the opportunity to present cases for review and discussion. CME is available.

The clinics are conducted by secure videoconferencing under the direction of Keith Cheng, M.D., Medical Director of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry at OHSU Doernbecher Children’s Hospital.
