Volunteer
Our program is built around very special people—people like you who care enough about others to give of your time and talent to support patients, visitors, and staff throughout OHSU.
New innovative services are continually being developed to assist staff and patients and to develop the potential in each individual volunteer.
We have three volunteer programs at OHSU:
OHSU Healthcare volunteer services
Volunteers with OHSU Healthcare are placed in a variety of settings in the adult hospital & clinics and at Doernbecher Children's Hospital & clinics, in which volunteers share their time and talent, including opportunities in family and visitor service areas and inpatient care areas. We’re always interested in hearing from reliable, compassionate people who would like to help our patients and families on a regular basis. Placements are determined based upon the volunteer’s skills, interests, availability and previous experience.

OHSU research/academic/central services
Volunteers in these areas support the missions of scientific discovery and education as well as university administration. We applaud our volunteers for living out the core competencies of the organization. Several programs are housed in this category including the Clinical Research Investigative Studies Program (CRISP) in Emergency Medicine, Pre-Dental, and the Critical Care Academics Associates Program (CCAAP) in the Intensive Care Unit. In addition to these programs, volunteers are encouraged to contact departments directly to partner in the creation and pursuit of additional opportunities.
Note: Volunteer Services does not provide opportunities in research or academic settings. If you are interested in learning about these opportunities, please follow the link below to connect with the Office of Visitors and Volunteers.
