The OHSU Layton Aging and Alzheimer's Disease Center is a national leader in Alzheimer's research, NIH funding and dementia care. We offer specialized evaluation and care for patients with Alzheimer's disease and related dementias.

Training programs and fellowships

Geriatric Neurology Fellowship Program

Provides multidisciplinary training in geriatric neurology and dementia. Research and clinical tracks are available with special areas of emphasis on healthy brain aging, cognitive and motor function, neuroimaging, biomarkers, clinical trials and use of in-home technologies for research and care. The fellowship program takes advantage of resources at the Layton Aging and Alzheimer's Disease Center, Oregon Center for Aging and Technology (ORCATECH) and the Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

Requirements
Graduate of an accredited training program in neurology, and a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.

Training program for postdoctoral fellows

Complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) research training

The Oregon Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine in Neurological Disorders, led by Dr. Barry Oken, has a T32 institutional training grant, "CAM Research Training in Neuroscience and Stress," from the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health  at NIH. This training grant provides funding for postdoctoral fellows with an interest in complementary medicine and either neurology or stress, including oxidative/nitrative and toxicologic stress.
