The OHSU Department of Radiation Medicine and the Bay Area Hospital cancer program in Coos Bay, Ore., have established a unique collaboration. 

Every three months, the medical director of the Radiation Therapy Center at the Bay Area Hospital, Mark Henderson, M.D., spends a week at OHSU. This allows Dr. Henderson to enhance his professional interaction with OHSU and to facilitate ongoing continuing education and professional development.  

In turn, the OHSU medical physician team and other OHSU faculty visit Bay Area Hospital and collaborate with their Coos Bay colleagues on continuing education efforts regarding medical physics delivery and other areas of interest. This exchange of ideas contributes to superior patient care and serves to further strengthen relationships between the OHSU Knight Cancer Institute and the Bay Area Hospital cancer program.
