The Salem Cancer Institute and OHSU Knight Cancer Institute have created a patient-focused alliance to ease the burden of cancer treatment for patients in the Salem area by:

• Creating shared care protocols and offering coordinated care
• Cooperating in tumor board discussions to determine the best treatment for individual patients 
• Assigning a medical director to enhance our collaboration
• Providing local access to clinical trials through Salem Cancer Institute, including direct access to many of the principal investigators and treatments at OHSU
• Providing access to a OHSU medical geneticist and counselor who travel monthly to Salem Cancer Institute to provide genetic counseling
• Creating a shared medical record to help provide seamless coordination of care
