Regular eye exams
If you're seeking an eye exam for an adult, the place to start is the Comprehensive Ophthalmology department at Casey Eye Institute's location on Portland's south waterfront (by the bottom of the tram). We also offer comprehensive ophthalmology services at other locations in Oregon and SW Washington. You can call any of these clinics to set up an appointment. If you browse our web site and can't decide who you need to call, please call 503 494-3000 during business hours and our operator will be happy to direct your call. For more information about vision screening and cataract services, please feel free to browse our general eye care options here on this site. If you would like to see a specialist, such as a retina doctor or a neurology doctor, you must first get a referral from your own ophthalmologist or one of the doctors in our comprehensive ophthalmology department.
If you wish to set up an eye exam for a child, the Elks Children's Eye Clinic is the place to start. This clinic is in our Marquam Hill (top of the tram) location on the 5th floor. To schedule an appointment with this clinic, call 503 494-7830. For more information, please visit their pages on this site.
Specialty eye care
If your eye doctor referred you to see a specialist at Casey, you'll find more information about our specialists in the specialty services part of our web site. A specialist is an eye doctor who has received extensive training and experience in specific types of eye diseases or issues. For example, your eye doctor might refer you to see a glaucoma specialist if you have glaucoma. In most cases, you won't see a specialist unless an eye doctor who works in comprehensive ophthalmology has referred you, depending on the individual situation. We have specialists at multiple locations, so please make sure you know where your appointment is before you make the trip. Feel free to give us a call if you don't know for sure. Sometimes smart phone directions or taxi services will take you to the wrong place, so it's a good idea to double-check.
