Macular Degeneration Center
About the Macular Degeneration Center
Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is the leading cause of new adult blindness in the United States.
An eye disease that mostly affects the elderly, macular degeneration has become a serious public health concern as our population grows older and lives longer.
The Macular Degeneration Center at OHSU Casey Eye Institute in Portland, Oregon is focused on finding the underlying causes of age-related macular degeneration and developing better methods of prevention and treatment.
Drawing patients from throughout the Pacific Northwest, the Macular Degeneration Center is made up of physicians, scientists and support staff and links cutting-edge research with clinical practice. Our full spectrum of care includes a wide range of vision rehabilitation, support services and community outreach programs.
