OHSU Pediatric Dentistry

Dentistry specifically for children

Welcome to the Pediatric Dental Clinic at Oregon Health & Science University, Oregon's destination site for healing, teaching and discovery in children's oral health. Our goals are to provide care the exceeds the need and expectations of our patients and families, train future leaders in pediatric dentistry and oral health sciences, and advance the frontiers of research and discovery.

The Pediatric Dentistry Clinic at OHSU provides dental care for children and young adults up to age 14. Care is provided by dental students and dental residents with the supervision of dentists experienced in pediatric dental care. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that a baby's first oral exam be no later than his or her first birthday. At OHSU, dental care for infant, toddler and preschool age children (approximate ages 6 months to 6 years) is provided by resident and faculty dentists.

What to expect

Children accepted for care will be assigned to one dental student. The student will contact you to arrange an appointment for your child during one of the Pediatric Dentistry Clinic sessions. Appointments will generally last one and a half to two and a half hours. Faculty instructors supervise all treatments provided by the students.
