Going Home
When your child is ready to go home, our emergency room doctor or nurse will usually give you printed instructions on follow-up care for your child’s illness or injury.
If you have any questions after you leave, the phone number and name of the doctor who treated you will be printed on the instructions provided, or you can call your child’s primary care provider. We also immediately send a copy of the record from your child’s visit to your child’s primary care provider. This record explains what was done for your child and what we recommended.
During your visit to the Doernbecher emergency room, if you have any questions or concerns that your child’s doctor or nurse cannot answer, please ask to speak to the attending physician or charge nurse.
You can expect a follow-up phone call so we can make sure your child is continuing to get better at home.
