About Us

Members of the Doernbecher Children's Hospital pediatric urology team.

Highly Specialized

We provide more medical and surgical services than any other pediatric urology program in Oregon.

We evaluate, diagnose and treat infants and children with disorders of the genitals, urinary tract, bladder and kidneys. If your child has one of these conditions, from common to complex, we can help.

Because children’s bodies are different than adults’, specialized surgical training is important. Our surgeons are board-certified and trained in surgery that is specific to children.

Extensive Experience

We are teachers, leaders, and innovators. We are dedicated to state-of-the-art urologic care, surgical expertise and research in many aspects of pediatric urology.

Family-Centered Care

We know your child's condition and treatment affect your whole family.  We encourage your involvement in the decision-making and planning for your child's care. We recognize you and your family are your child's primary source of strength and support, and your participation is very important to their comfort, treatment , and recovery.

Ranked among the nation’s best

Pediatric Urology at Doernbecher is ranked one of the best children’s urology programs in the United States, according to U.S. News & World Report’s Best Children’s Hospitals, 2018-2019.

Minimally invasive, robotic surgery

Robot-assisted surgery can be especially helpful for children. The da Vinci robot system used by Doernbecher urologists allows surgeons the ultimate precision when dealing with smaller pediatric patients. Children who undergo surgery using the da Vinci robot also experience a quicker recovery time and a faster return to their normal activities.

Specialty Programs

Elimination Disorder Program

Urodynamics is an excellent way to evaluate how effectively a child's bladder functions. Our pediatric specialists perform the most advanced bladder evaluation in the area including the only video-urodynamics for children in the state of Oregon. Our STEP Program (Step Up to Elimination Problems) is the only clinic in the state that focuses exclusively on elimination disorders for children.

Fetal Therapy Program

Many urologic abnormalities—such as kidney problems including hydronephrosis (affecting 1-5 percent of all pregnancies), bladder obstruction and genital abnormalities—can be diagnosed prenatally.

Our clinic works directly with the OHSU Fetal Therapy program for all prenatally diagnosed urological conditions. OHSU is the only fetal therapy program in the state and region, offering a broad team of maternal-fetal, pediatric and neonatal specialists with the most advanced technologies to achieve the best possible outcomes for mothers and their babies.
