Dr. Albert's special areas of interest are in orthognathic surgery, reconstructive surgery and cleft surgery. He received his medical degree in 1977 from Harvard Medical School in Boston, and received his medical degree in dentistry from the Harvard School of Dental Medicine in 1971. He completed his residency training at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. He received special certification in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in 1979. Dr. Albert is an OHSU Professor Emeritus of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, having taught in that department from 1977 until he joined the OHSU Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery in the division of Head and Neck Surgery in 2002.

Dr. Andersen received his medical degree from Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri in 1988. He did his residency at Oregon Health Sciences University from 1988-93 and then completed a fellowship in head and neck surgery/oncology at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York City from 1993-95, during which time he received a $10,000 award from the American Cancer Society Clinical Fellowship and a Basic Science Award from the Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital Resident Research Day. In 1995 he became Assistant Professor in the Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at OHSU. He is currently a Professor.

Currently, Dr. Andersen is involved in research on the Differential Expression of Genes in Head and Neck Squamous Carcinoma with a grant from the American Cancer Society, Oregon Division, as well as his surgical and clinical practice at Oregon Health & Science University in Head and Neck Cancer and Surgery.

 

Romilla Bijlani, PA-C joined the Otolaryngolog-Head and Neck Cancer division in January 2015. She is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants, the Oregon Society of Physician Assistants, and Society of Physician Assistants in ORL-HNS. 

She received a Bachelor of Science degree from Willamette University, Oregon and went on to complete a Masters of Physician Assistant Studies at Pacific University in 2013.   

She serves as an instructor and mentor for physician assistant students and is actively involved in the Physician Assistant Programs in Oregon. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with family and friends, running, and traveling.

 

 Kandice Bowman, MS, CPNP earned her RN, MS, and PNP degrees from Oregon Health & Science University. She is certified by the Pediatrics Nursing Certification Board, and is a member of the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners, the Nurse Practitioners of Oregon, and the Society of Otorhinolaryngology and Head-Neck Nurses. She came back to OHSU in 2009 to work with the Pediatric Otolaryngology division as an Instructor.  Ms. Bowman specializes in caring for children with ear, nose or throat problems. She has advanced training in pediatrics that allows her to provide specialized care for children and their families. She enjoys working with the kids and providing the individualized care that families and children need. She sees patients at the Physicians Pavilion and at Doernbecher Children's Hospital, and also works as a very important part of the collaborative Pediatric ENT team. In her spare time, Ms. Bowman enjoys spending time with her husband and children, reading, meeting with friends, walking and traveling. Her new hobby is learning the game of golf.

Dr. Daniel Clayburgh grew up in North Dakota and attended a Williams College in Massachusetts, where he received a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry. He then attended University of Chicago, where he received his medical degree and also completed a Ph.D. in the Department of Pathology.  Following medical school he completed his residency in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at Oregon Health and Science University, followed by a fellowship in Advanced Head and Neck Surgical Oncology at the University of Pittsburgh.  He is board certified in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery.

Dr. Clayburgh works at both OHSU and the Portland VA Medical Center and specializes in the treatment of head and neck cancer, including squamous cell carcinoma, skin cancer, thyroid and parathyroid disease, and salivary gland malignancy.  He has advanced training in minimally invasive approaches to the head and neck, including transoral robotic surgery.  His research interests include cancer stem cells, the development of new therapies and surgical technology for head and neck cancer, and improvements in perioperative management of head and neck cancer patients.

 

Dr. Cook, a native Oregonian, graduated from Willamette University. He received his M.D. degree from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. He interned at the Stanford Hospital in San Francisco, and then spent four years in the U.S. Navy as a flight surgeon. After the Navy, he completed a residency in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at Baylor, and did fellowship training in Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery in Tampa, Florida and Boston, Massachusetts.

He practiced in Spokane, Washington, as a faculty member of the University of Washington Medical School from 1973 until 1982. In 1982 he joined the faculty at OHSU and has been here in the division of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery ever since. His practice, limited to facial plastic and reconstructive surgery, involves all aspects of repair of congenital, traumatic and cancer defects of the face.

Past President of both the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and the International Federation of Facial Plastic Surgery Societies, he is a nationally and internationally recognized speaker and writer on all aspects of cosmetic and reconstructive plastic surgery of the face. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery and the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.

Monica Deshpande, FNP, joined the department of Otolaryngology in 2011 returning to the Pacific Northwest from Nashville, TN where she spent the previous 15 years.   She enjoys seeing general pediatric otolaryngology patients as well as being part of a multi-disciplinary team that specializes in the care of pediatric hemangiomas and vascular disorders.  Monica delivers an integrated approach in health care by involving the families and members of the pediatric specialty team.  She earned her BS and Masters of Science in Nursing from Vanderbilt University where she spent over 10 years providing health-care to children. Certified by the ANCC, a member of the Nurse Practitioners of Oregon and the Society of Otorhinolaryngology and Head and Neck Nurses, she has also served as guest faculty at Vanderbilt University and OHSU School of Nursing mentoring students, seeing patients, and giving lectures.In her spare time, Monica enjoys the many outdoor activities that Portland has to offer, running, kayaking, hiking, and biking.

 Dr. Kara Detwiller is originally from New England and received a Bachelor's degree in Chinese Studies and Economics with honors at Wellesley College in Massachusetts. After working in the information technology field for several years, she decided to pursue a career in medicine. She graduated with honors from Dartmouth Medical School. She completed her Otolaryngology residency at OHSU and fellowship training in Rhinology and Skull Base Surgery at Northwestern University in Chicago. She is board certified in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery. Dr. Detwiller works both at OHSU and the Portland VA Medical Center. Her clinical practice is focused on nasal and sinus disorders with a particular interest in chronic sinusitis, hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia, and allergy.  

Paul W. Flint, MD received his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine and completed his residency training at the University of Washington. He joined the faculty at Johns Hopkins in 1991, where he has served as Residency Training Program Director. 

In 2009, Dr. Flint was appointed Professor and Chair, Otolaryngology –Head &Neck Surgery at Oregon Health &Science University. He is a founding member of the Society for Airway Management, and an active member of The Triological Society, The American Laryngological Society, The American Academy of Otolaryngology, and The American College of Surgeons. He is the Senior Editor of the sixth edition of Cummings –Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, considered to be the definitive textbook for the specialty. 

Dr. Flint's clinical interests include the treatment of benign and malignant diseases of the airway, development of procedures to improve voice, swallowing, and breathing;and, treatment of movement disorders affecting the head and neck including dystonia and Parkinson disease.

 

Mathew Geltzeiler, MD specializes in endoscopic sinus and anterior skull base surgery. Dr. Geltzeiler studied neuroscience at Brown University and medicine at Boston University School of Medicine where he graduated summa cum laude. He completed his residency training in Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery at Oregon Health &Science University. Dr. Geltzeiler then spent two years at the University of Pittsburgh where he completed two fellowships in Head and Neck Oncologic Surgery and Advanced Skull Base Surgery. 

 Dr. Graville is an Associate Professor and the Director of the OHSU-Northwest Center for Voice and Swallowing.  She earned her Master’s degree in Speech and Hearing Sciences at Portland State University and completed her Fellowship at the Portland V.A. Medical Center.  Dr. Graville developed her expertise in voice restoration and dysphagia at OHSU’s Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery Center.  Her desire to develop a comprehensive voice and swallowing center led her to pursue a Ph.D. in Communication Disorders and Sciences at the University of Oregon. She is currently an Adjunct Professor at both University of Oregon and Portland State University.

Dr. Graville’s current clinical interests include voice restoration after laryngectomy and swallowing restoration after treatment for head and neck cancer.  Research interests include voice and swallowing treatment outcomes after head and neck cancer.

Dr. Sachin Gupta joined the Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery in 2017. He received his B.A. degree from the University of Virginia, then his M.D. degree from the Mount Sinai School of Medicine. After completing his residency in Otolaryngology at the New York University School of Medicine, Dr. Gupta completed a fellowship in Neurotology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. Prior to joining our department, he was an attending surgeon in Otology/Neurotology at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland.

Dr. Gupta's clinical interests include all aspects of otology and neurotology, with a special focus on transcanal endoscopic ear surgery (TEES) and skull base surgery. Outside the clinic, he is engaged in cochlear implant research in collaboration with Dr. Lina Reiss in the Oregon Hearing Research Center. 

Dr. Gupta is board certified in Otolaryngology, with additional subspecialty certification in Neurotology. In his free time, he enjoys basketball, hiking, and classical piano.

Dr. Hullar joined the Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery in 2015 as Director of Otology, Neurotology, and Skull Base Surgery and Director of the Cochlear Implant Program.  After graduating from Stanford University, he taught high school at Phillips Academy in Andover, Massachusetts.  He received a Fulbright scholarship to study at the Max-Planck-Institut in Cologne, Germany before his medical studies at Harvard Medical School.  His clinical interests include the treatment of adults and children with hearing loss, tinnitus and imbalance, chronic ear disease, and benign and malignant tumors of the ear and lateral skull base.   He is board certified in Otolaryngology with additional certification in Neurotology.  He runs an active research laboratory focusing on cochlear implantation and imbalance.  In his free time he enjoys sailing, canoeing, diving, and kayaking.

Alexander Kain has been conducting research in the field of digital speech signal processing for the past 20 years. He received his Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering from the Oregon Graduate Institute in 2001 and joined the faculty at the Center for Spoken Language Understanding at OHSU in 2007. His main research interests include: (1) finding the acoustic causes of intelligibility, (2) algorithmically making disordered or conversational speech more intelligible, (3) modeling coarticulation and its application for speech assessment, (4) improving the quality and customizability of Text-to-Speech devices to better reflect their user's voice, and (5) automatic screening for sleep apnea using an at-home device with unobtrusive sensors. Dr. Kain has over 40 publications, teaches 3 courses, and advises several graduate students. Concurrently, he is also Chief Scientist at BioSpeech, Inc.

Dr. Derek Lam was born in London, Ontario, Canada but moved to Mercer Island, Washington at the age of 11. He went to Cornell University in Ithaca, NY where he earned a Bachelor’s degree with honors in Chemistry before returning to Seattle to attend medical school at the University of Washington. He stayed at UW for residency in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery during which time he became interested in clinical epidemiology and outcomes research and completed his Masters of Public Health. He then completed a two year pediatric otolaryngology fellowship at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. In addition to general pediatric otolaryngology, his clinical interests include the treatment of pediatric aerodigestive disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea, subglottic and tracheal stenosis, laryngomalacia, laryngopharyngeal reflux, pediatric voice disorders, and velopharyngeal insufficiency. His research interests include the diagnosis and treatment of pediatric obstructive sleep apnea.

Outside of work Dr. Lam enjoys skiing, snowboarding, surfing, soccer, softball, and ice hockey.

Dr. Li joined our department September 1, 2015 as an Assistant Professor.  Dr. Li received his BS in Neuroscience in 2004 from Brown University, then went on to get his Medical Degree from the University of Pittsburgh in 2008.  He completed his residency at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland, followed by a fellowship at Stanford University in Stanford, California.

Sarah Liebler, PA-C, is originally from the Midwest and received her Bachelor of Science degree at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, Michigan. She subsequently completed her Masters in Physician Assistant Studies at Oregon Health & Science University in Portland, Oregon in 2004. Sarah is a NCCPA board certified physician assistant and an active member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants.

Sarah returned to OHSU in 2012 to join the Neurotology / Skull Base Surgery  team as an instructor. She works closely with Dr Timothy Hullar and enjoys seeing patients with a wide variety of ear and hearing concerns. She also sees patients as part of the OHSU Cochlear Implant program.

Prior to joining the Otolaryngology-Head & Neck surgery department, Sarah spent seven years practicing with a private ENT group in Portland. She serves as an instructor and mentor for physician assistant students and is actively involved with the Oregon Health & Science Physician Assistant Program.

Dr. Myriam Loyo Li is a facial plastic surgeon with advanced training in facial reconstruction and cosmetic surgery. She received her surgical training from Johns Hopkins Hospital and further specialization in facial plastics at OHSU. She offers cutting-edge procedures ranging from minimally- invasive procedures (such as Botox, fillers or laser) to more traditional surgery (such as facelift, rhinoplasty, or eyelid surgery). Dr. Loyo Li also has a unique expertise in the treatment of facial paralysis.

Dr. Loyo Li believes communication is key in a doctor-patient relationship. In her own words: "I will customize each treatment to reflect your unique needs and specific facial traits, skin condition, aesthetic concerns, and lifestyle. My goal is to work with you to enhance your natural beauty and reduce unfavorable traits or signs of aging so that you can achieve beautiful and completely natural results."

Dr. Myriam Loyo Li is originally from the Pacific Coast of Mexico. She joins OHSU with her husband, Ryan Li, a head and neck and microvascular surgeon. They enjoy the beautiful outdoors of Oregon and cooking together, as well as participating in surgical mission trips to Latin America and Africa.

Dr. MacArthur joined the Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at OHSU in 2002. She came from Children's Hospital of Orange County (CHOC) and the University of California, Irvine in Orange, California where she was in practice from 1991-2002. Dr. MacArthur completed a Pediatric Otolaryngology fellowship at Harvard Medical School/Boston Children's Hospital, in Boston, Massachusetts before beginning her practice in 1991. She completed her training in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at the University of California, Davis. She received her medical degree at UCLA and undergraduate degree in Chemistry at Occidental College in Los Angeles, CA.

Dr. MacArthur has a strong clinical interest in the treatment of hemangiomas and vascular birthmarks. She co-founded the Hemangioma and Vascular Birthmarks team at OHSU in 2003. This team provides multidisciplinary care to children and adults with complex hemangiomas and vascular birthmarks, offering the most up-to-date treatment options, both medical and surgical and via interventional radiology. She is an active mentor to students and residents. She is Chief of the Division of Pediatric Otolaryngology here at OHSU and is the fellowship program director with a keen interest in training future leaders in this field.  She has over 40 peer-reviewed publications, is active in editorial review activities for several medical journals and granting agencies. She serves on numerous committees to support the OHSU institution in Professionalism, Faculty Council and as Co-Chair of the Committee on Committees. She also serves on the American Society of Pediatric Otolaryngology Task Forces on Fellowship, Vascular Birthmarks, Research, Voice, and Recurrent Respiratory Papillomas. 

In addition, from 2005-2014, Dr. MacArthur was funded through the NIH as a Co-Investigator with Dennis Trune, PhD to study the inner ear impact of chronic middle ear inflammation (mouse model), steroid responsive mechanisms in the ear (mouse model), and the genetic susceptibility to otitis media –candidate genes. She also received a grant from the National Organization for Hearing Research (NOHR) in 2011 to study the genetic variation in the immune system to otitis media.  She has received a grant from the  "Action on Hearing Loss" Foundation in 2015 to continue the genetic investigation of chronic otitis media.

Dr. Madison graduated with a M.D. and Ph.D. (Biochemistry and Molecular Biology) from the University of Connecticut in 1998. He completed a residency in Internal  Medicine at OHSU in 2000 and an Endocrinology fellowship at OHSU in 2003. Dr.  Madison is board certified in Internal Medicine and Endocrinology. Dr. Madison serves as Co-Director of the Thyroid and Parathyroid Program, consulting with patients and providing a full range of diagnosis and treatment services to patients with thyroid and parathyroid disorders. His research interests are in molecular mechanisms of tumor metastasis and transcription.

Henry A. Milczuk, M.D. joined the Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at OHSU in 1994. He graduated from the University of Michigan and received his MD degree from the University of California, Davis. He completed his training in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Washington. In 1993, he completed a fellowship in Pediatric Facial Plastic Surgery at Arkansas Children's Hospital. Currently he is on staff at Doernbecher Children's Hospital, Shriner's Hospital for Children, Providence St. Vincent, and Legacy Emanuel Children's Hospital.

As part of Pediatric ENT and the Pediatrics Department at Doernbecher Children's Hospital, Dr. Milczuk and the rest of the Otolaryngology Department, is committed to Family Centered Care. This idea recognizes the  importance of the family in the well-being and care of a child. Parents are given complete information to allow them to make an informed decision that is compatible with the beliefs of their family.

Dr. Quintanilla completed medical school with high honors at the Monterrey Institute of Technology in Monterrey, Mexico, where she grew up most of her life. After graduating, she spent two years in Boston, Massachusetts, performing medical research in the genetics of an ear malformation called "microtia" at Harvard University. This confirmed her passion for Otolaryngology, and she then came to Portland, Oregon, to complete her specialty training. After soon realizing how much she loved working with children, she had an additional year of training in Pediatric Otolaryngology, at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN. She then returned to Portland, OR to join the Pediatric Otolaryngology team at OHSU. Her areas of greatest interest are voice disorders in children and thyroid disease in children and adults.

 

 Dr. Raz completed her undergraduate studies at Harvard University and her medical training at UCLA School of Medicine. She completed a residency in Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery as well as a fellowship in Otology, Neurotology and Skull Base Surgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital. She has been extensively involved in basic science and clinic research during her training and early career at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. Dr. Raz relocated to Portland over the summer of 2016 to join the Otology Division. Dr. Raz's clinical interest focuses on surgical rehabilitation of hearing. In her free time, Dr. Raz looks forward to exploring the gardens, food scene and nature trails of the Pacific Northwest with her husband, two kids and one giant dog.

Lina Reiss, PhD joined the department in January 2010 as a researcher in the Cochlear Implant Program and Oregon Hearing Research Center. She completed a B.S.E. in Mechanical Engineering from Princeton University in 1997 and went on to earn a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from Johns Hopkins University in 2005. Dr Reiss completed a Postdoctoral fellowship in Communication Sciences and Disorders at the University of Iowa ( 2005-2009). She joined the OHSU Otolaryngology Department as an Assistant Professor in Otolaryngology and Biomedical Engineering, working as a researcher in outcomes in patients with cochlear implants. She is widely published, and is a member of the Association for research in Otolaryngology (ARO), the Society for Neuroscience, and the Alexander Graham Bell Association for the Deaf.

Dr. Schindler is an Associate Professor and the Medical Director of the OHSU-Northwest Center for Voice and Swallowing. He graduated from Stanford in 1993 with bachelor's degrees in both Classics and Biology. In 1998, he received his medical degree from the University of California, San Francisco and is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Society. After completing his residency in Otolaryngology at Johns Hopkins Medical Center, he undertook fellowship training in Head and Neck Surgery at Johns Hopkins and Laryngology at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. He is board certified in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery.

Dr. Schindler's current clinical interests include voice disorders in both professional and non-professional voice users, swallowing disorders, breathing and upper airway disorders, and cancer of the upper aerodigestive tract. His research interests include molecular diagnosis and management of early vocal fold cancers, treatment of spasmodic dysphonia and other neurologic voice disorders, and hoarseness in association with laryngopharyngeal reflux.

Dr. Senashova completed her undergraduate studies at Portland State University and her medical training at OHSU School of Medicine. She completed Internal Medicine residency at Providence St. Vincent Hospital in Portland and then returned to OHSU to complete a fellowship in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism. She was involved in several basic science research projects earlier in her career and during fellowship. After her fellowship, Dr. Senashova has spent 5 years in private clinical practice in Portland and now she has returned to OHSU to join the Otolaryngology team to narrow her focus and pursue her interest in thyroid cancer diagnosis, surveillance and treatment. Her interests outside of medicine include traveling with her family, skiing, and camping which makes Portland a great place to be! 

Dr. Shindo received her M.D. from The University of Southern California in 1984.  She completed her residency training in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at The University of Southern California Los Angeles County Medical Center, and earned her Board Certification in 1989.  Subsequently, she pursued fellowship training in Head and Neck Oncology at Northwestern University Hospital as well as a fellowship in Microvascular Reconstructive Surgery at Ohio State University.  In 1991 she joined the faculty of the Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at The University of Southern California, where she gained national recognition for her work in micro-vascular head and neck reconstruction.  Dr. Shindo joined our department in 2008 as Professor and as the Director of the Thyroid and Parathyroid Program, providing a full range of consultative, diagnostic and therapeutic service dedicated to patients with thyroid and parathyroid disorders.

Dr. Shindo has special expertise in the multidisciplinary management of complex thyroid and parathyroid disease.  She has performed pioneering work applying new strategies, including minimally invasive parathyroidectomy, performed under local anesthesia and minimally invasive video-assisted thyroidectomy, an adaptation of the established laparoscopic procedure which provides patients the benefits of a much smaller incision, and better cosmetic results.  Dr. Shindo’s microsurgical techniques, for which she completed advanced training, coupled with her precise operative skills offers the most sophisticated care available to our patients.

Dr. Shindo is an active teacher and lecturer, nationally and internationally, and a recognized expert in her field.

Timothy L. Smith, M.D., M.P.H., F.A.C.S. is Professor and Vice Chair in the Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at Oregon Health & Science University in Portland, Oregon where he also serves as Director of the Oregon Sinus Center, Chief of Rhinology and Sinus-Skull Base Surgery, and Director of Clinical Research. Dr. Smith is actively involved in clinical practice and research and serves as the Principal Investigator of the first multi-institutional, multi-disciplinary study of outcomes of sinus surgery funded by the National Institutes of Health. Dr. Smith has published over 300 peer-reviewed articles and other scientific publications and has mentored numerous faculty, fellows, residents, and post-graduate students who have substantially advanced the field of Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery.

Dr. Smith is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, Triological Society and the American Rhinologic Society. He has been honored with the Distinguished Service Award from the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery and the Dr. Maurice Cottle Honor Award for distinguished research from the American Rhinologic Society. He is the first American Rhinologist/Sinus Surgeon to be elected to the Collegium Oto-Rhino-Laryngologicum Amicitiae Sacrum (CORLAS).

Dr. Smith is a Past President of the American Rhinologic Society and has been elected to the Board of Directors for the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, and to the American Board of Otolaryngology. He has served as an Associate Editor of the International Forum of Allergy & Rhinology and JAMA Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery and has served on the editorial boards of several other journals.

Dr. Tom Wang is the director of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at OHSU.  Dr. Wang has been a full-time member of the facial plastic surgery division since 1993 and has performed over 10,000 procedures.  Dr. Wang is widely published in the medical literature and is internationally recognized as an innovative teacher and leader on the latest techniques in facial plastic surgery. 

Dr. Wang is past President of the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. This high honor represents recognition by his peers of Dr. Wang's contributions to advancing the specialty of facial plastic and reconstructive surgery for surgeons and patients.

Dr. Wang's practice is limited exclusively to cosmetic and reconstructive surgery of the face. His area of expertise include rhinoplasty (cosmetic and functional nasal surgery), rhytidectomy (face and necklift, browlift), blepharoplasty (eyelid tuck, ptosis repair), otoplasty (correcting protruding ears, earlobe repair), reconstruction of facial defects following skin cancer removal (Mohs), scar revision, benign and malignant facial skin lesion removal, cleft lip and palate repair, microtia repair (correct malformed ears) and minimally invasive aesthetic procedures (injectable fillers, neurotoxins, skin resurfacing).   Over the past 30 years, Dr. Wang has volunteered and led humanitarian trips to many parts of the globe, treating children with cleft lip and other facial problems.  This represents an ongoing commitment by Dr. Wang to help serve those in need.

In his free time Dr. Wang enjoys spending time with his family, landscape photography, traveling, skiing, and chamber music.

 

"I believe that the next frontier in head and neck cancer will be made in the rehabilitative field. Patients undergoing treatment for head and neck cancer suffer problems in speech and eating. Microvascular reconstruction allows us to replace the tissue removed during the surgical procedure with similar tissue during the reconstructive aspect. Using our expertise, and new technology, we hope to help our head and neck oncology patients to achieve better rehabilitation than what was possible in the past. Along with our speech language therapists, we continue to monitor our patients' progress and modify our reconstructive strategies to maximize our patients' outcomes."

Dr. Wax`s clinical interest is the reconstruction and rehabilitation of head and neck patients who have had surgical procedures for head and neck cancers. He also specializes in treating snoring and sleep apnea. Dr. Wax is the Director of the Residency Program for Otolaryngology and is the Director of the Microvascular Fellowship program at Oregon Health & Science University.

Lindsay E Wyant, MS, PA-C is a Physician's Assistant in the Oregon Sinus Center. She received her Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Washington in Seattle, WA and went on to complete a Masters in Physician Assistant studies at Oregon Health & Science University in Portland, OR. She is nationally certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physicians Assistants.

She practiced with a private otolaryngology-head and neck surgery group in Portland before joining the Oregon Sinus Center team in 2007. She has been treating rhinology and sinus related issues since 2004.

She serves as an instructor and mentor for physician assistant students and is actively involved in the Oregon Health & Science University Physician Assistant Program.

Kate Zochowski, PA-C joined the Northwest Center for Voice and Swallowing in December 2015. She completed her Bachelor of Science from the University of Oregon in Eugene, Oregon in 2011 and her Masters of Physician Assistant Studies at Oregon Health& Science University in 2015. She is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants, the Oregon Society of Physician Assistants, and Society of Physician Assistants in ORL-HNS. 

Kate was born and raised in Oregon, spending most of her years near Eugene before migrating north to Portland for graduate school. In her spare time she enjoys running, exploring the many restaurants and events Portland has to offer and spending time with family and friends.  She is very excited about joining the Otolaryngology department at OHSU.
