About Our Residents

PGY 1 - Emily Ahadizadeh, MD

Emily Ahasizadeh, MD
Dr. Emily Ahadizadeh was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She attended the University of Oklahoma for her undergraduate degree in Biology and went on to complete her medical education at Case Western Reserve University. During this time, she published in the fields of forensic entomology and otolaryngology. Dr. Ahadizadeh loves to travel, as well as anything that takes her outdoors, especially running, hiking, figure skating, and rock climbing. 

PGY 1 - Gabby Bobarnac, MD

Gabby Bobarnac Dogaru, MD
Dr. Gabriela Bobarnac is originally from Bucharest, Romania, but grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area after moving to the United States at the age of 12. She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA), graduating with honors, and a degree in Psychobiology. She then went on to attend the Keck School of Medicine of University of Southern California. There she completed medical school as well as a year-long Dean's Research Fellowship focusing on peripheral nerve regeneration. In her spare time, you are likely to find her running, hiking, skiing, and spending time outdoors with her husband-to-be.

PGY 1 - Jeffrey Gu, MD

Jeffrey Gu, MD

Dr. Jeffrey Gu joined us from the University of California, Irvine School of Medicine, where he completed medical school and a masters degree in Biomedical and Translational Science. He completed his undergraduate degree in Integrative Biology at University of California in Berkeley. During his spare time, Dr. Gu enjoys photography, music, judo, and hiking.

PGY 2 - Tara Henn, MD

Dr. Tara Henn - Otolaryngology Resident
Dr. Tara Henn was born in Princeton, New Jersey. She attended Dartmouth College where she dual majored in Biology and Classical Studies, with a concentration in Greek archaeology. While in college, she swam butterfly for the women's varsity swim team. She later returned to New Jersey for medical school at Rutgers-Robert Wood Johnson. Dr. Henn enjoys visiting museums, hiking, kayaking, and playing tennis in her spare time.

PGY 2 - Brian Scott, MD

Dr. Brian Scott - Otolaryngology Resident
Dr. Brian Scott graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in Exercise Science. He spent 2 years volunteering in Spain, where he developed a love of education and the Spanish language. He went on to complete medical school at the University of Texas Southwestern. Dr. Scott has been involved in many research projects focusing on skin cancer and obstructive sleep apnea. When he is not at the hospital, you are likely to find him mountain biking, snowboarding, or exploring the many waterfalls of the Pacific Northwest.

PGY 2 - Jennifer Wherley, MD

Dr. Jennifer Wherley - Otolaryngology Resident
Dr. Jennifer Wherley was born and raised in Southern California. She received her undergraduate education in Physiological Sciences at University of California Los Angeles (UCLA). She remained at UCLA for her Masters degree in Microbiology, Immunology, and Molecular Genetics. Dr. Wherley then ventured up to Portland to attend medical school at OHSU and as stayed with the university since. In her time outside the hospital, she enjoys practicing yoga, running, and hiking with her husband and dog.

PGY 3 - Yvette Anderson, MD

Yvette Anderson, MD

Dr. Yvette Anderson was born in rural northwestern Ontario, Canada, where she grew up on her family's fishing and hunting resort. She later attended the University of Nevada for her undergraduate degree in Biology and where she graduated from her honors program Magna Cum Laude. She then attended University of Nevada School of Medicine. In her downtime, Dr. Anderson likes to do anything that gets her outdoors with her husband. They like mountain biking, hiking, backpacking, horseback riding, working out, fishing, and snowshoeing.

PGY 3 - Andrew Baker, MD

Dr. Andrew Baker came to us from the Medical University of South Carolina where he completed medical school and a one year Otolaryngology Research Fellowship which was funded by the Department of Otolaryngology- Head and Neck Surgery. He attended Clemson University for his undergraduate degree where he received his BS in Physics and a BS in Biological Sciences. In his spare time, Dr. Baker likes traveling, cooking, and outdoors activities such as cycling, backpacking, running, and hiking.

PGY 3 - Rula Mualla, MD

Rula Mualla, MD

Dr. Rula Mualla joined us from the University of Michigan Medical School. She completed her undergraduate degree at University of Michigan where she majored in Evolutionary Anthropology and minored in Biochemistry. Dr. Mualla loves to travel.  She spent 3 months in Uganda and is very interested in global health. In her downtime, Dr. Mualla likes to play soccer, hike, and try new restaurants.

PGY 4 - Grace Banik, MD

Grace Banik, MD
Dr. Grace Banik grew up in Oregon. She graduated from Harvard University with an undergraduate degree in Biochemical Sciences, then worked for two years in consulting in Boston. She went on to complete medical school at Case Western Reserve University before returning to Oregon for residency. Dr. Banik enjoys playing tennis and Scrabble, attending concerts, hiking, and traveling abroad.

PGY 4 - Natalie Krane, MD

Dr. Natalie Krane completed her undergraduate degree in Behavioral Neuroscience from Lehigh University in Philadelphia and went on to complete medical school at Drexel University.  Dr. Krane's hobbies and sports include vinyasa and power yoga, painting, drawing, squash, volleyball and soccer.

PGY 4 - Joseph McClellan, MD

Joseph McClellan, MD
Dr. Joseph McClellan joined us from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine.  He completed his undergraduate degree in Biology at the University of North Carolina.  Dr. McClellan enjoys playing guitar and piano, and playing in a rock band with friends.  He also enjoys numerous outdoor activities including camping, backpacking, hiking, running and mountain biking.

PGY 5 - Justin Holt, MD

Justin Holt, MD
Dr. Justin Holt came to us from University of Colorado School of Medicine.  He attended Lyon College where he received his BS in Biology and English.  He has also studied overseas in Ireland, Germany and Australia.  Dr. Holt enjoys spending time outdoors playing tennis, hiking, biking, water skiing and fishing.

PGY 5 - Casey Means, MD

Casey Means, MD
Dr. Casey Means joined us from Stanford University School of Medicine.  She completed her undergraduate degree in Human Biology with honors from Stanford University.  Dr. Means has served as a leader of Arbor Free Clinic, a student run organization in the Bay area and has volunteered in India.  Dr. Means is interested in wilderness medicine and leadership, and has organized and led numerous wilderness trips in the Sierras.

 

PGY 5 - Tyler Weaver, MD

Tyler Weaver, MD
Dr. Tyler Weaver joined us from Oregon Health and Science University School of Medicine.  He completed his undergraduate degree in Applied Health at Azusa Pacific University.  Dr. Weaver has done numerous mission trips to many areas overseas, such as Mexico, Jamaica, Haiti, and India. Dr. Weaver enjoys playing guitar, home brewing beer, photography, bicycling, surfing and snowboarding.
