Beyond Clinical Care

Cooking Demo

We believe everyone in our community deserves to be healthy, whether they come to our clinic or not. We regularly participate in health fairs, local charities, and other activities to help our community live well. Below are just a few highlights of commitment to our communities.

Benson Wellness Center

OHSU Family Medicine faculty and residents provide care at Benson Polytechnic High School's school-based wellness center. The center is the perfect blend of community health, resident education, and fostering the pipeline of future health care professionals. Read the whole scoop here

Prescribing change: Using healthy food to break the cycle of poverty and chronic disease

We partner with local farms and the Oregon Food Bank to deliver fresh, healthy food to our patients who need it most. We use these partnerships to teach, learn, and advocate for policies that allow for more programs like these across the state. Check out a blog post about one of our projects

We keep our patients warm and healthy

Each of our clinics has a fund set aside for patients who need assistance with transportation to and from appointments, prescriptions, groceries, school supplies, and other important health requirements. We also make sure that we have new or gently-used coats, socks, and other clothing items for those who need them - no questions asked.

And so much more

  • Bike helmets are offered at OHSU Family Medicine at Gabriel Park at a highly discounted price - complete with an expert fitting in the clinic
  • Books are set aside for youngsters to take home
  • Gabriel Park serves as a breast milk donation site
  • Each clinic has a patient advisory board, made up of patients from our community who advise us on what the community needs from us
