Oncology
OHSU's Oncology Rehabilitation Team of physical therapists, occupational therapists and speech therapists who provide specialized services to patients with cancer. We work with people through all phases of disease and/or treatment to improve quality of life and function.
Cancer and the treatments of cancer can result in a wide variety of adverse side effects including but not limited to:
- Pain
- Peripheral Neuropathy
- Muscle weakness
- Fatigue
- Balance problems
- Problems with mobility
- Incontinence of bowel and bladder
- Cognitive deficits ("chemo brain")
- Lymphedema
We work closely with our other treatment partners including Oncologists, Nurses and Social Workers to provide a comprehensive approach to the management of cancers. Treatment is based on a patient’s particular needs and issues grounded in science and evidence based treatment approaches.
