Overview

What is virtual urgent care?

It is a video visit allowing you to connect with a provider from your mobile device or computer. We can diagnose and treat a wide-range of adult and pediatric non-emergency medical conditions, including calling in any necessary prescriptions . And, the cost of a virtual visit is typically lower than being treated at a doctor's office, urgent care center or emergency room.

What hours are providers available?

We offer virtual urgent care visits from 7 a.m. – 10 p.m., seven days a week.

Can my children be treated through virtual visits?

Yes, we can treat children 12 months of age and older. If your child is under 1 year old, please contact your pediatrician, urgent care or emergency room. If your child is under 13 years of age, you will need to have your own MyChart account and have your child added to your account. Children 13 years or older must have their own OHSU MyChart account for scheduling their virtual visit.

According to Oregon law (ORS 109.640), a minor 15 years of age or older may give consent for medical treatment without consent of parent or guardian.

Under Washington RCW 26.28.010, minors 18 years and older may give consent for medical treatment without consent of a parent or guardian. Some exceptions to this law apply for medical emergencies and other conditions, and will be at the discretion of our provider.

Can I get medications filled?

All of our providers can call in a prescription to your local pharmacy if medically appropriate. We will not be able to refill controlled medications (narcotics, etc) so you will have to contact your prescribing physician.

Who will I see?

All our OHSU providers are licensed and board-certified Nurse Practitioners  or Physician Assistants.

What if I have a follow up question or concern?

Simply log in to your OHSU  MyChart account, and send your provider a secure inbox message. MyChart is OHSU’s secure online patient portal.

How can I cancel a visit once it is scheduled?

You can cancel your virtual visit up to 5 minutes before it starts through the OHSU MyChart portal. Just log in to MyChart, go to Visits >  Upcoming Appointments and select the “Details” button for your appointment.

How do I create a MyChart account for my child?

If you already have an OHSU MyChart account of your own, call 833-895-3603 (9:30 a.m. – 8 p.m., Mon. – Fri.) to set up a proxy account for your child.

If you do not have an OHSU MyChart account of your own, first, you will need to create your own account even if you are not an OHSU patient. Call 833-895-3603 (9:30 a.m. – 8 p.m., Mon. – Fri.) to set up your account and get a proxy account for your child.

How do I schedule a virtual visit for my child?

Note: You must first have proxy access to your child's account.

After you select your appointment time, log in to your MyChart account and choose your child’s tab on the right side of the screen. Then, go to Visits > Upcoming Appointments and click the “Details” button next to your appointment.

Why do I have to be in OR or WA during the visit?

Our providers are licensed to practice within the states of Oregon and Washington. We can see patients who are residents of any state, but you will need to physically be in Oregon or Washington when you begin your video visit.

Cost and insurance

What is the cost?

The cost of your visit will never exceed $49. If you have insurance to bill, it may be less or even zero. This would not include any prescription orders or follow up visits. If we determine a virtual visit is not appropriate for your situation, there will be no charge, and the provider will assist you in identifying next steps (e.g. urgent care clinic or emergency room.)
