Critical Care Unit at Samaritan Lebanon Community Hospital Receives Silver Level Beacon Award

The Critical Care Unit at Samaritan Lebanon Community Hospital recently received a silver level Beacon Award for Excellence from the American Association of Critical Care Nurses.

 LEBANON —The Critical Care Unit at Samaritan Lebanon Community Hospital recently received a silver level Beacon Award for Excellence from the American Association of Critical Care Nurses.The hospital is the first critical access hospital, with 25 inpatient beds or fewer, in the United States to receive a Beacon award. The association presented the award to the hospital based on the following criteria:

  • Leadership structures and systems
  • Appropriate staffing and staff engagement
  • Effective communication, knowledge management, learning and development
  • Evidence-based practice and processes
  • Outcome measurement

The association gives the Beacon Award to critical care units (CCUs) that successfully improve patient outcomes and align practices with its six Healthy Work Environment Standards.
