NW Rural Health Conference Call for Posters & Presentations

The Northwest Rural Health Conference is now accepting abstracts for the 2019 Annual Northwest Rural Health Conference.

Rural Communities: Healthy Places to Live, Work, and Play
March 25-27, 2019, Hilton Seattle Airport & Conference Center, SeaTac, WA

Submission of abstracts relevant to the theme and current or emerging rural health issues are encouraged.

  • All abstracts will undergo a competitive review process. Not all submissions will be chosen to present. Evaluation criteria includes:
    • Relevance of the topic to the conference audience and themes. Topics to target include rural health leadership, rural health research, quality, and initiatives, Critical Access Hospitals, Rural Health Clinics, rural EMS, rural home health, telehealth, workforce development, and population health.
    • Clarity of the presentation’s purpose and learning objectives.
  • Abstracts must include a concise title and clearly list primary presenter and co-authors.
  • Abstracts must not exceed 500 words and must be in English.

Submit via the on-line abstract submission form by December 3, 2018

Please note the following author obligations before submitting an abstract

If your submission is accepted for presentation, you agree to the following:

  • Primary author must attend the conference and offer the presentation. Each accepted abstract qualifies for one primary speaker complimentary registration.
  • Additional authors may co-present, but are not required to attend the conference. If additional authors wish to attend, they must register at the membership rates of $350 full conference or $150 for one-day registration.
  • Authors will be notified by January 4, 2019 of their status: accepted, alternate or declined. Response to this notification is due by January 15, 2019 or the slot will be offered to another presenter.

We regret that a limited number of presentation slots are available; the organizers will not be able to schedule all submissions into the 2019 program.

To be considered, abstract submissions must include all the information requested in the on-line form. Titles and presenter names do not count toward the 500 word abstract limit. The abstract form will collect:

  • Primary Author / Presenter information
  • Co-authors (if any) names, titles, organizations and email addresses.
  • Presentation Title
  • Abstract (500 words max)
  • Description: What is the main topic and goal of this presentation?
  • Target audience and relevance: Who will find this topic of interest? How is this topic relevant to the Northwest Regional Rural Health Conference attendees?
  • Key learning objectives:(List at least three measurable learning objectives)
  • Duration: 1 hour

  • Clinical skills and new evidence in rural clinics, hospitals, home health and EMS settings

  • Patient and family-centered care models

  • Care coordination
  • Rural EMS innovations and solutions
  • Emergency preparedness in rural areas
  • Opioid epidemic
  • Innovation in care delivery
  • Chronic care conditions and treatment
  • Staffing models and the team approach to care
  • Change management best practices
  • Rural healthcare financial management

Note: Special consideration will be given to abstracts that use adult learning principles to engage participants and offer an alternative to lecture and slides.
