Welcome from the Chair
Welcome to the Charles T. Dotter Department of Interventional Radiology website. Established in 1990, the Dotter Institute was a multidisciplinary, free-standing clinical, research, and educational division within the Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU). The Institute was named in honor of Dr. Charles Dotter, a Radiologist who on January 14, 1964 initiated a paradigm shift in medicine when he performed the first percutaneous angioplasty. From this single innovation has grown Interventional Radiology, Interventional Cardiology, Endovascular Surgery, Interventional Neurosurgery, and many other specialties. More important, millions of patients have benefited from less invasive and often more effective image-guided interventions. I am honored to succeed Drs. Josef Rösch and Frederick Keller as the Director of the Department.
Within this website you will find information about the Department, it’s faculty and staff, the many innovations that it has produced, and the numerous research and clinical programs, services, and activities that it supports. Hopefully, you will also be able to share in the excitement that we have for the present and future of image-guided interventions. We encourage you to explore this website, and better yet, contact or come visit us.
