Anyone at OHSU or VA who is applying for or who has a current career development award is eligible to be an OCTRI Scholar.

The following career-development individuals automatically receive OCTRI Scholar status:

• Individuals who have received an OCTRI KL2 scholar award
• Individuals who have received a K01, K07, K08, K12, K22, K23, K25 or K99/R00 funding in clinical or translational research
• Individuals who have received funding for a mentored career development award similar to a K award in clinical or translational research, such as a CDA1 or CDA2 from the VA or award from the American Cancer Society, American Heart Association, or other professional society
• Additionally, individuals must be pursuing clinical or translational research and making satisfactory progress towards research goals.
  

Other career-development individuals are may be considered for eligible OCTRI Scholar services:

• Individuals who are applying for K01, K07, K08, K22, K23, K25 or K99/R00 funding in clinical or translational research
• Individuals who are applying for a mentored career development award similar to a K award in clinical or translational research, such as a CDA1 or CDA2 from the VA or award from the American Cancer Society, American Heart Association, or other professional society
• Individuals who are applying for their first R (or similar) award in clinical or translational research

Eligibility criteria for OCTRI Scholar services

For applicants seeking a career development award (K or similar awards):

• Dedication to developing a career in clinical and translational research
• Support of the academic department or unit
• A well-considered plan for career development, including expected date of application and the likely targeted career development funding mechanism(s) (e.g. foundation, institute)
• Support of a capable mentor
• A scientifically interesting field of research and a reasonably well-developed research plan
• The availability of resources needed to develop preliminary data and support the expected career plan

For applicants seeking a first R award (or similar funding) without a preceding career development award:

• Dedication to developing a career in clinical and translational research
• Support of the academic department or unit and sufficient time available to develop the application and carry out the research
• A well considered research plan, including expected date of application and the likely targeted funding mechanisms (e.g. RFA).
• Support of a capable mentor or senior collaborator
• A scientifically interesting field of research and a reasonably well-developed research plan
• The availability of resources needed to develop preliminary data and support the expected research
