RCR Training Opportunity
RCR Training for Scholars and Trainees
This 8 hour seminar meets the RCR (Responsible Conduct of Research) requirements of the NIH K award or T award, or any federal or non-federal career development grant. It is an interactive and practical experience that is focused on addressing real issues that have arisen in the course of your research. This may be related to ethics, integrity and regulatory matters; including anything from how you recruit and consent patients to how you keep laboratory methods or determine authorship.
The majority of each session is dedicated to active learning. As part of this course, you will be asked to develop a research question and then to review the literature specific to an ethical or practical question based upon your funded research. You will discuss your research in a small group at 3 sessions and will make a short presentation based on your review at the final session.
What will you get from this seminar?
- 8 hours of face to face faculty-led RCR training
- Expert consultation and resolution of an ethics or integrity issue in your research
- Practice in using a rational approach to recognize and address RCR issues
- Experience presenting to others on how you addressed an RCR issue
