Show Andrew's Biography

In his current role, Dr. Watson manages the licensing, commercialization, intellectual property protection, and industry collaborations aspects of the department. He is also responsible for the day-to-day management of the office and technology transfer staff as well as having significant input into preparation and management of departmental budgets. He is also involved in developing and implementing university policies, providing leadership in developing strategies for corporate collaborations, and serves as an OHSU spokesperson for matters relating to intellectual property, commercialization and economic impact of OHSU research. He has authored several scientific publications and technology transfer articles, and also been an invited speaker at both scientific and technology transfer conferences. He is a Certified Licensing Professional through the Licensing Executives Society. Dr. Watson is an active member of the Association of University Technology Managers, the Licensing Executives Society, and the Oregon Bioscience Association.

Previously, Dr. Watson served as a Technology Development Officer in the Office of Technology Development at The Scripps Research Institute in San Diego and in technology transfer roles with Health Research Inc. and the Research Foundation for Mental Hygiene, Inc., in New York. He came to OHSU in 2007 as a Technology Development Manager before being promoted to Director in 2012.

Dr. Watson received his Bachelor of Science in Biology from Whitworth University in Spokane, WA and a Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences with a research emphasis in Immunology and Infectious Diseases from the State University of New York at Albany in New York. Outside of TTBD, Dr. Watson enjoys time with his family including his two energetic children, is an avid camper and kayaker, and is a sports junkie.  He is an Eagle Scout and is currently a leader for a local Cub Scout Pack.

Show Abhijit's Biography

Dr. Banerjee oversees the Business Development function at OHSU as an interface between OHSU investigators and the pharmaceutical/biotech industry, helping develop strategic alliances with industry, foundations and government. Dr. Banerjee is also responsible for supporting OHSU's startup companies and participates in strategic initiatives related to commercialization of OHSU's assets and technologies. Recently he was invited to join the GE Ventures Advisory Council.

Prior to joining OHSU, Dr. Banerjee was a Senior Consultant with Deloitte and a Strategic Alliance Manager at Pfizer. He has worked as a researcher at Imperial College in London and at Boston University. Dr. Banerjee received his Ph.D. from the India Institute of Chemical Biology in India and his M.B.A. from Suffolk University in Boston, completing his post-doctoral training at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
